Experienced/Graduate Health and Safety Quality Supervisor

Our client is a Japanese leading automotive components provider

Objective:

To supervise quality activities including inspection of parts; supplier assessments; customer complaints and parts rejection issues. In conjunction with the Lead Warehouse and H&S Supervisor in thier North office to undertake H&S functions for Swindon. Cover Warehouse duties and responsibilities as required by the Quality Manager.

The Role:

Monday to Thursday 8.30 – 17.00 (15.00 on Fri) with NO WEEKENDS!

Salary: £18,000.00 – £23,000.00 (depending on skills & experience) plus

Duties and responsibilities:

Quality
ーSupervise inspection activities, ensuring that all goods inwards are inspected to the required standard.
ーEnsure that all inspection equipment is calibrated to necessary standards at all times and quarantined parts are correctly controlled.
ーLiaise with customers and suppliers regarding quality related issues including rejections and improvement requests including customer visits where appropriate and supplier development activities when appropriate.
ーCommunicate details of quality issues to other departments to ensure all parties have the relevant information to handle parts correctly.
ーAssess quality requirements for new parts, assessing supplier capabilities and discussing with customers, including supplier assessments where appropriate.
ーCompile documentation (PPAP, ISO etc.) to get approval from customer, based on submissions from suppliers.
ーIn times of high work volume, to assist the warehouse associates to promote accurate shipping and receiving to meet the schedule
ーBe responsible for the production of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and all required reports for senior management. Report H&S and Quality department’s monthly and annual results.

ーSupervise the quality inspector towards meeting the goals of the department.
ーEnsure that all company policies and procedures are clearly adhered to including disciplinary, absence, health and safety and general housekeeping

Health and Safety
ーIn conjunction with the senior management and the lead Health and Safety Supervisor North, ensure that all policies and procedures for Swindon are in line with current legislation
ーIn conjunction with senior management to promote occupational health and safety awareness; and monitor that safety related functions, including risk assessments and training, are being satisfactorily completed. Also share good practice across the Company on health and safety matters and disseminate information across the Company as appropriate.
ーUndertake risk assessments for all activities identified with significant risks
ーTo provide advice to managers and to ensure key staff are appointed to undertake Health and Safety functions e.g. First Aiders and Fire Marshals
ーTo investigate accidents, determine cause and recommend preventative action measures
ーUndertake staff induction in terms of health and safety requirements

Other  
ーCreate quality training procedures and maintain training manuals
ーIdentifying areas for improvement in terms of the quality/warehouse area; training and development needs for yourself and your staff
ーCreate, review and amend ISO flow charts and work instructions – maintain and review these records at least bi-annually.
ーIn the absence of the Warehouse Supervisor to cover their role.
ーCover the absence of the Quality Manager

Requirements:
ーit is essential that the candidate will need to have the ability to read, understand and interpret technical drawings.
ーUnderstanding/experience of Geometric Tolerancing, quality analytical tools, creating PPAP documentation.
ー’can do’ attitude, to think of solutions to problems and someone who is happy to expand their knowledge and experience.

Our client will be happy to invest in training for the right person where there may be possible skills gaps.
a forklift truck licence would be an advantage.
The candidate will also be required to have a full clean driving licence in case of supplier/customer visits around the UK
